Payroll Manager

We are seeking passionate and dedicated Payroll Manager to join our Corporate Services team for immediate start.

Reporting to the Business Manager this position will be primarily at our Pimpama campus, you will be required to travel to Reedy Creek and Logan Village. This is a permanent full-time position, Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm.

Position Purpose

The Payroll Manager is responsible for the end-to-end management of the school’s payroll function, ensuring the accurate and timely payment of all staff in accordance with relevant Awards, Enterprise Agreements, and statutory requirements. The role ensures compliance with payroll legislation and industrial relations frameworks. You will also add value to the Business through continuous improvement and providing exceptional services to internal and external stakeholders.

Payroll Management

· Manage the end-to-end payroll process for all teaching, corporate and casual staff

· Ensure accuracy and timeliness of pay runs, including salaries, allowances, deductions, leave, pay reviews and terminations

· Maintain employee data and payroll records in the payroll system (TASS)

· Oversee STP (Single Touch Payroll) reporting, superannuation, PAYG and the year end reconciliations

· Detailed review of the fortnightly pay run processed

Compliance and Governance

· Ensure compliance with Fair Work, ATO and Superannuation legislation

· Monitor changes in Education sector industrial relations, awards and agreements

· Prepare and lodge required statutory returns and reports as required

· Maintain confidentiality and integrity of employee and payroll data

Process Improvement and Systems

· Lead payroll audits, reconciliations and process reviews

· Recommend and implement improvements to the payroll systems and controls

· Collaborate with IT, HR and Finance teams to ensure accurate data flow and integration

Support

· Provide accurate payroll and award interpretation advice to staff and management

· Support HR and Finance in workforce planning, budgeting and reporting

· Act as a key liaison with external auditors, regulatory bodies and payroll providers as required

Leadership

· Supervise and support the Payroll officers within the team

· Foster a culture of accuracy, service excellence and continuous improvement

Qualifications and Experience

· Minimum 5 years payroll experience, preferably in education

· Strong understanding of industrial instruments relevant to education.

· Experience using education-sector payroll systems (TASS, Aurion, etc).

· Proven ability to manage complex payroll environments with multiple employment types and rosters.

Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes

· In-depth knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and compliance requirements.

· High attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

· Excellent communication and relationship management.

· Discretion, professionalism, and commitment to confidentiality.

· Alignment with the school’s Christian based ethos.
